In the late 1980's, when Somatheeram was started, no other Ayurvedic Resort existed in India, and Ayurveda was almost unknown outside of India, its country of origin.

Mr. P. Mathew, an Indian national based in Germany, thought then about introducing this ancient Indian science to Europe.
